Curriculum

The International School provide all of its students with a good general education. At Key Stage 3 students follow the National Curriculum with emphasis being given to acquiring the skills needed for further learning. Students follow the full range of National curriculum subjects, and comprehensive arrangements are made for students with special needs.

Certain students will have the opportunity of taking a GCSE in Design and Technology in Year 9.

The Key Stage 4 curriculum Students at Key Stage 4 begin to have more say about their curriculum. They may opt for certain subjects, within tight limits. They are given extensive guidance before they make these choices. The School makes extensive use of BTEC courses at Key Stage 4, believing that a more vocationally orientated curriculum enables students to see their learning in a clear context. This is evident in the School’s growing success at Key Stage 4.

Post-16

The School is fortunate in having a vibrant pos-16 centre that caters for students who wish to pursue their studies to advanced level and also gives students the chance to improve on Key Stage 4 results where this is needed.
